Ted Dyer Signed Limited Print. Lucky Black Cats at the Match, St Michael's Mount
Summer blue sky & golden light over St Michael's Mount in Cornwall create the perfect seaside backdrop to a game of beach cricket. Artist Ted Dyer has playfully given us the view point of the two black cats that sit on the wall. They seem to be talking to each other, perhaps commenting on the game. This beautiful limited print is sure to delight and bring some Cornish summer to all who view.
This Limited Edition Print is reproduced from a painting by Ted Dyer. It is of St Michael’s Mount with the tide on the turn and several people playing an improvised game of cricket in the mid ground. This is why the title is referring to the cats at the match. In the distance is the harbour of The Mount and the few cottages that perch on the harbour wall, and also at the very bottom of the mount.
The summer sky promises well for the game and the trim seagulls above appear to agree! Light summer clouds and a haze reaching to the horizon are a good harbinger of this prediction as are the small sailing boats making use of the gentle breeze close to the horizon. They will be joined later for the traditional “cornish pasties all round” family meal.
In the meantime the two black cats doubtless have a few hopeful thoughts about the situation. The left hand cat is looking towards the other and you can imagine it commenting on the people playing in front of them and the beginnings of a tasty supper that can just be sensed on the evening air.

I bought this lovely little print for my partner who is a cat lover. He finds this scene very amusing, it was an immediate hit with him. That’s a relief!
