Limited edition print. Sun on the Sails, St Mawes. By Ted Dyer
A classic view of St Mawes in Cornwall by artist Ted Dyer. This limited edition print has a wonderful sense of light and colour with the sun catching the sails of the boats as they set out to sea. The wild pink Cornish flowers in the foreground catch the light too. The view is out towards St Mawes and Pendennis castles. A really beautiful print that captures the essence of this Cornish village.
Ted shows us a classic view in this print with both the well known castles of St Mawes and Pendennis. He has painted it from St Mawes and this castle is catching the sun as are the cottages that are close to it. The headland of Pendennis Point with the castle on it is in the background with a pale blue sky above and small fluffy clouds. In the mid ground are three sailing boats with their sails also catching the sun, one has tan sails and the other larger one is a classic working boat that is well known in these waters for oyster dredging. The tide is fairly high but a few rocks in the foreground are still not covered and out of the harbour wall a pinky red valerian is growing, called by some Kiss-me-quick or Drunken Sailor amongst other names.
