John Dyer Painting. A Day at the Bathing Pool, Penzance
An iconic John Dyer painting full of narrative, content and colour of the seafront in Penzance and the Jubilee Bathing Pool. This major new painting features rich colour and shape with impasto paint and energy. Cyclists ride along the seafront while bathers enjoy the clear blue water in the pool. The Scillonian, a tall ship and fishing boats fill the bay and St Michael's Mount completes the piece.
John Dyer: In the 1950s simple neutral frames became popular for St Ives artists. John chooses an off-white so the lightest tones appear in the painting. The moulding is a variation of 'Salvator Rosa' from Italy. Hand finished in almond white paint.
