John Dyer Painting. St Ives Bay Blue, Portminster Beach
St Ives Bay and the stunning beach of Porthminster are the subject of this John Dyer painting. Towering palm trees frame the view and blue agapanthus flowers fill the foreground. A couple stand on the edge of the cliff looking down at the white beach below. A wonderful painting by this established Cornish artist that really captures the life and colour of the Cornish seaside.
John Dyer: In the 1950s simple neutral frames became popular for St Ives artists. John chooses an off-white so the lightest tones appear in the painting. The moulding is a variation of 'Salvator Rosa' from Italy. Hand finished in almond white paint.
