John Dyer Painting. Waving at the Goldfish, Tresco Abbey Garden, Cornwall.
A vibrant painting by John Dyer of one of his favourite locations,Tresco Abbey Gardens. Our view is from the top terrace looking down towards the goldfish pond & through the magnificent date palms to the see beyond. John Dyer has an amazing ability to capture the essence of a subject & this small canvas really shows this off as he captures the excitement of the small girl as she glimpses the fish.
John Dyer: In the 1950s simple neutral frames became popular for St Ives artists. John chooses an off-white so the lightest tones appear in the painting. The moulding is a variation of 'Salvator Rosa' from Italy. Hand finished in almond white paint.
